Triangle Hot Spot Review

This page is for the review of public spaces in the Research Triangle of North Carolina that have wireless internet access. The criteria we have looked at for our meeting purposes are:

  • Access — Is it near a major highway? Is there abundant free/cheap parking closeby? Is it clear where to go, if the building is not stand-alone?
  • Food/Coffee — Is the food good? Is it inexpensive? Is there good coffee? Is it made by “coffee people” or by amateurs?
  • Seating — Is the seating flexible enough to get a good group together?
  • Meeting — Is it good for a meeting? Can you hear others at the table speak? Are there power plugs available to plug in a display? Will doing these things cause the owners or managers to flip out and ask the group

to leave?

  • Wi Fi service — Was it strong enough to use? Require registration? Consistently available?
  • Comments — Explain the ratings and include anything else that seems relevent.

If you want to add information, rate each element in order with a number 0–5 with 0 being the lowest (i.e. conditions are completely unacceptable) and 5 being the highest (i.e. conditions are perfect). If you have the URL for the web site of the place, feel free to insert that as well. The idea is to make this useful for others wanting to find workspace in public venues.

Dakota Grill - Morrisville44321Food and physical access were good. Seating was adequate, but space limited and near loud TV. Wi Fi was slow and had a weak signal
Bear Rock Cafe - Crossroads54443Food and physical access were great. Seating, space plentiful, and we could hear even with a crowd, but power outlets were sparse. Wi Fi signal was good, but it required an irritating registration system.
